Pune, 15 January 2025: Škoda Auto Volkswagen India proudly announces that Škoda Kylaq, the Group’s first vehicle, participated in Bharat NCAP testing and has achieved a full 5-star rating for both adult and child occupants. Bharat NCAP rating is the prestigious domestic new car safety assessment program initiated by the Indian Government to ensure safety of the occupants. This achievement is a testament to the Group’s commitment to offering #MadeInIndia vehicles that adhere to the stringent domestic and global safety standards.
Škoda Auto Volkswagen India’s first sub-4-metre SUV, Škoda Kylaq has been designed and developed specifically for the evolving needs of the Indian customers. Kylaq is the safest ICE car in the segment to receive 5-stars rating with 30.88 point out of 32.00 (97%) in adult occupant protection and 45 points out of 49 points (92%) in child occupant protection, making it the top-performing vehicle in the ICE sub-4-metre compact SUV segment. This underscores the Group’s commitment of bringing world-class vehicles ‘Made in India’ tailored for both domestic and international markets. SAVWIPL’s Technology center led the project, steering right from engineering, development to testing to ensure achieving the “Best in Class” performance across all attributes. Carrying forward the legacy of safety excellence established by the Volkswagen Taigun & Virtus and Škoda Kushaq & Slavia (all of which earned 5-star safety ratings in their respective Global NCAP crash tests), Kylaq continues to exemplify the Group’s commitment to #SaferCarsForIndia. In 2022, the Taigun and Kushaq became the first cars manufactured in India to receive a 5-star rating for both adult and child occupants under Global NCAP's new, more stringent crash test protocols.

In addition to its stellar performance, Kylaq showcased exceptional results across various tests. Kylaq secured 30.88 points in adult occupant protection out of 32 (97%) and 45 points in child occupant protection out of 49 (92%), making it the best-performing vehicle in the ICE sub-4-metre compact SUV segment. It achieved 15.035 out of 16 points (94%) in the frontal offset barrier test for adult occupant protection, demonstrating a stable occupant compartment and footwell. In the side-moving deformable barrier test, it scored an impressive 15.840 points out of 16 points. For child occupant protection, Kylaq earned the maximum possible 16 points in the frontal offset barrier test and full 8 points in the side-moving deformable barrier test for 1.5 and 3-year-old children. Furthermore, the vehicle secured maximum points in the recommended child seat assessment and 9 out of 13 points in the vehicle-based assessment.
